At Eglin Air Force Base, our team faced a complex roofing challenge that showcased our ability to adapt to unique environments and stringent requirements. The project encompassed multiple facilities, including a critical data center and an ammunition facility. Working on a military base presented numerous challenges, from coordinating with ever-changing military schedules to navigating strict safety protocols and extensive paperwork requirements.
The unpredictable Florida weather added another layer of complexity to the project. High humidity, strong winds, and frequent rain showers demanded flexibility in our work schedule and innovative solutions to protect ongoing work. We also had to be extremely cautious about overspray risks, given the numerous vehicles and buildings in close proximity to our work areas.
Our solution involved a careful process of removing loose gravel from the existing tar and gravel roof, followed by the application of spray foam insulation. We then applied a durable urethane coating with granules broadcast into it, providing both added insulation value and superior weather resistance. This system was specifically chosen to withstand the harsh coastal environment and meet the base's stringent performance requirements.
The success of this project hinged on our team's flexibility, meticulous planning, and unwavering commitment to quality. By successfully navigating the challenges of working in a high-security military environment and delivering exceptional results, we further solidified our reputation as a go-to contractor for complex roofing projects.
